Little break from free online strategy games? Farmerama is a game similar to Farmville, but there is no need to own Facebook account in order to play it. In this 2D browser farming simulation players are planting crops, raise animals and fruit trees and do various assignments to obtain farmer’s glory, which is most prosperous farm in the world. It’s where players are socializing with friends and face farm simulation challenges.

Farmerama is farm simulation strategy game where every day hundreds of thousands farmers take care with their farms. Game’s concept is itself very simple and main in-game objective is a completely self-prosperous farm, with various plants, vegetables and animals. Managing everything at the same time isn’t such easy as it may sound and it’s similar to jobs of every real life farmer (of course without physical work).
Player has to watch over his crops, respond on changing weather, wait for crops until they will be ready to gather etc. Player own quite large part of land, with farmhouse, a barn, a manure pile, a mill and a water tank. There is possibility to breed various animals like chickens, cows, horses and other. It would be too boring to raise only standard “farm” animals, so developers added such exotic species like camels, ostriches or kangaroos. Animals (and humans) need something to eat, so virtual farmer grows various plants, flowers, trees and vegetables. In order to raise animals properly, players needs farm mill, which will give him access to pasture. Those who enjoy that kind of entertainment should find Farmerama entertaining; the game has intuitive HUD, basics are very easy to grasp and background is animated.
…but prefers playing in Farmerama
There are various simulation farms, but Farmerama is unique despite obvious similarities to very popular Facebook game, Farmville. Developing real farm isn’t only a pleasure, it needs a plenty of time, climatic changes and various disasters may have most tragic effect on ordinary farmer. Farmerama isn’t anything like that and without taking any risk and consequences, players are able to try their strength in raising virtual farm and life of real farmer. Farmerama may be played in longer sessions or for a few minutes during a break – decision is first of all to the player.
If player want to boost up some aspects of the game, he can purchase florens; special in-game premium currency obtainable only through real cash (typical in all free online strategy games). Premium account grants access to additional functions like possibility of hiring farm guards. Additionally, it makes already easy gameplay, even easier; the game is played almost by itself. What is probably the most important aspect of the game, there is no need to pay to for additional options, game is still very entertaining. Those who prefer single-player experience will rather enjoy Farmerama over Farmville, which focuses more on social aspects.
Graphically, Farmerama is full of colors, while nicely detailed and animated. It doesn’t require high-end computer in order to enjoy it. In fact Farmerama may be played on almost every existing computer. Watching over farm is real pleasure, while user interface is intuitive and very easy to navigate; tutorial is very easy to grasp, so players do not have to worry that they will not understand something. The game maybe isn’t one of free online strategy games, but more like simulation, however is worth to play even if you are strategy game maniac.

Despite of clear references to Farmville, it’s still worth playing farm simulation. Strategy aspect is very limited, so it’s maybe not one of the free online strategy games, yet Farmerama is still worth to play. It may be perfect game for those players, who want something light and cheerful short break and watch their crops grow. It doesn’t concentrate on social aspects like many games these days, which may be negative and positive at the same time aspect of the game. However, those who own Facebooks accounts and want to play with friends may invite others, without any problem.
